Sé Cathedral Church also commonly know as St. Catherine’s Cathedral is a magnificent 16th-century monument located in Velha, Goa. Se Cathedral is one of the most ancient and the largest church in India. It has also been stated as a world heritage site by UNESCO.

The church was constructed by the Roman Catholics, in dedication to Catherine of Alexandria, under Portuguese rule. Sé Cathedral Church has a few unique things:

The church was designed by Julião Simão and has Portuguese colonial architecture & Portuguese Gothic architecture. It is 250 ft in length and 181 ft in breadth. The building exteriors are simple but the sophisticated work on wood in the interiors of the church complements its beauty. This cathedral is known for its “golden bell”, the largest church bell in Goa. The tone of the bell is also very rich and hence has gained popularity all over the world.
